Who we are at the SID?

The Service of Information about Disability (SID) is a public network brought into operation jointly by the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality and the University of Salamanca for the establishment and development of a state information system about disability, through the web, accessible to the public, and free of charge.

Conceived as a portal on disability, the SID is intended to serve as a platform for broadcasting information on disability of the sectorial policies promoted by the Spanish Government and, in particular, of those developed by the General Secretariat of Social Policy, through the Office of Coordination of Sectorial Policies on Disability, the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (Imserso) and the Royal Trust on Disability.

The SID is addressed to the different professionals in the field disability, researchers and university professors, politicians, planners and managers of the different Public Administrations and associative movements, people with disabilities and their families.

Users will be able to find all types of information related to disability, with a particular structure typical of the Service, that allows access to the contents in a clear and logical way; these contents, permanently updated, provide those interested with extensive and verified information on regulations, resources, benefits, aid, centres and services, organizations, bibliography, current news, statistics, etc.

Finally, the SID facilitates access to the information with no limitations by reason of disability, and in this sense the design of its pages has taken into account the standard rules for the creation of accessible pages, becoming a website that can be browsed by the highest number of users regardless of their personal or technological limitations.
